My Fight with Cancer
I have had of the closes 3 woman in my life suffer from cancer, both of my Grandmothers suffered from Lukemia and my "motia" (Mom/Aunt) who was a survivor of Thyroid Cancer.

Cancer is not an easy fight and I watched each of these amazing woman put on their poker face and with a strong heart, determination and perseverance, face cancer head on and put up quite a battle.

I remember being right beside of my Grandma Marion every step of the way through her last chemo treatment. They told her she had a 50/50 chance of making it through and every single day for a solid week.

Which by the way, when I was in the Miss Teen Apopka Pageant, I sang that song "Who I Am" By Jessica Andrews and instead of sang RoseMary's Granddaughter (I should post a photo of that), I would sing Marion and Janice Sue's Granddaughter.

I remember it was July 23rd, the day before my mom's birthday and she told everyone to get up to the hospital if they want to see her because this was, and I quote "going to be my last day here." We were all shocked. And the very next morning, on July 24th (my mom's birthday) my Grandmother passed away. Yes, so not only had we lost Grandma, but on my mother's birthday! To this day, after 3 years, we still cry about it. And it's because sometimes you just want to pick up the phone and hear their voice and or drop by after work and give them a hug, but you can't. The most rewarding part of that journey with my Grandma Marion was being able to be by her side throughout her entire week long fight against chemo.

Both of my Grandmother's have passed away and I still think about how determined and strong they were. They truly were an inspiration in my life and my mother, "motia" as I call her, is still the determined, strong woman I know her as.

That is why in honor of October Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Our DJ Rocks is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Wedding Giveaway Package. I (along with some of the best wedding vendors in Central Florida) will be donating 4 hours of DJ service to a couple who has been directly affected by one of the many forms of cancer.

• To qualify for the Breast Cancer Wedding Giveaway Package, you must be a couple who has been directly affected by cancer themselves, or had an immediate family member affected and you must be getting married in Central Florida in either August, September, November or December 2011 Sunday-Friday.
• To enter, create a video with your fiancé lasting no longer than 15 minutes and include your names, the date of your event, if you have your wedding venue selected and where, how cancer (of any kind) has affected you, what you’re doing to make a difference, what would this mean for you as a couple and any other information you want to include to make you stand out.
