I recently asked
Rev. Glynn Ferguson with
Sensational Ceremonies to tell us his opinion on the importance of the DJ & Officiant relationship, as well as what the DJ/MC can do to make his job easier and what he has experienced in the past that he does not like. Here’s what he had to say:
DJs can look for visual cues from the officiant as to when the music needs to be tapered off...like when the bride comes down the aisle. They also play a vital role in the ceremony when there is a portion of the ceremony that has no speaking. Music is always a great filler for candles being lit, sand or wine being poured, or rings being passed.
As far as dislikes, if I can't hear myself speak because the volume is too high or there is too much echo it makes pronouncing difficult names and words with hard "s" and "z" almost impossible. I once did a wedding at Highland Manor and the speakers we so far removed from the ceremony site, that there was a few seconds of delay. I would speak a word and a few seconds later it would come back to me...confusing!!!
